Barrancabermeja´s Refinery Modernization Project (PMRB)
Client:
ECOPETROL' s Refining and Petrochemical Vice-Presidency.
Scope: Owner's Engineer services to support the implementation of the Phase III (Project Definition); and IV (Project Implementation), according to the ECOPETROL's Maturity Project Model, including:- Project planning and monitoring.
- Project HSE, quality, change and training management.
- Project procurement planning and execution.
- Review and approval of project workforce.
- Project quality assurance/quality control (QA / QC), planning, scheduling and project control.
- Project Closure.
The Barrancabermeja 's Refinery Modemization Project encompassed the optimization of crude oil units operation and refinery capacity increase to 300,000 barrels per day.
- Project planning and monitoring.
- Project HSE, quality, change and training management.
- Project procurement planning and execution.
- Review and approval of project workforce.
- Project quality assurance/quality control (QA / QC), planning, scheduling and project control.
- Project Closure.
The Barrancabermeja 's Refinery Modemization Project encompassed the optimization of crude oil units operation and refinery capacity increase to 300,000 barrels per day.
The overall objective of the Project was to ensure long term value of the Refinery by processing heavier crude oils to obtain more valuable and better quality refined products.
Specific objectives of the project included:
- Processing of heavy acid crude oil in excess of 175 KBPD.
- Increasing medium level conversion (76%) to high level conversion (greater than 95%).
- Supply diesel national demand beyond 2020 estimated to be 85.5 KBPD.
- Meet the 2013 National Fuel Quality Standards regarding allowable sulphur content (diesel below 50 ppm and gasoline below 300 ppm).
